What is the '200 Club' ?
The 200 Club, has been in existence for
approximately 28 years. It was formed initially to help
towards the purchase of St. Judes Hall (now called St Judes Theatre), which has been
the headquarters of the Society for many years. The proceeds now go
towards additional expenses incurred in maintaining
the premises and is a major part of the Society's finances.
How it works
The annual membership cost is £12. There are 200 members
who are each allocated 5 sets of numbers consisting of 3 digits.
If one of these sets corresponds with the last three digits of the top
prize premium bonds drawn each month, the member will be one of the 5
lucky winners, each one winning £12 over eight months of the year.
Every three months, however,
there is one winner of £100. Each year there is a top prize of £500 which is presented
at the Annual Presentation Evening in March,
together with the remaining quarterly £100 cheque.
Who can join
The membership consists not only of
Operatic Society members but also relatives and friends. The 200 Club year starts in March and due to personal circumstances, just a few
members cancel their membership, leaving spaces. To join or if you know of someone who
would like to join please
contact the co-ordinator
(see below).
The yearly membership fee
can be paid by cash, cheque or preferably by yearly
standing order.
Mandate available by sending an e-mail to

The Presentation Evening
This is held annually in early March
to
present the £500 prize to the lucky winner and is usually well attended
by over 150 Club members who are invited free of charge but are
encouraged to bring along
their family and friends; entry for them is charged at £6.
Doors open at 7pm and entertainment usually given by members of the Society
starts at 8pm.
This is followed by an interval at 8.30pm in which refreshments are served.
The name of the
£500 prize winner is then announced after which entertainment resumes until
approximately 11 pm. |
