Jekyll &
Hyde has now completed it's run. It has been described as one of our
most successful shows!
Although the audience numbers were disappointing those that did see
the performances showed their
appreciation with standing ovations at every performance, almost unheard
of, certainly for an amateur production.

Congratulations to
'The Oppitts'
(The
Junior section of
Weston Operatic Society)
having completed
their run of
'Honk'
Junior
with 99.5% seats sold! |

'Fiddler on the Roof'
receives high
acclaim.
Audiences
have been expressing
their appreciation for the show.
A cast of
60 includes two sets of 'Oppitts'
the junior section of the Society who perform
on alternate performances.
A well
balanced orchestra of 10
creates atmosphere and compliments
the musical numbers. |

'The Likes of
Us'

A
show written while both
were students in 1965 by
Tim Rice and
Andrew Lloyd Webber,
based on a book
by Leslie Thomas
'The Likes of
Us' is a musical
telling
the story of
Thomas John Barnardo,
a philanthropist who founded
homes
for destitute children.
In the summer of
2009
Weston-super-Mare
Operatic Society
including the junior
section 'The Oppitt's' was
awarded a licence
from
'The
Really Useful Group'
via the
National Operatic and
Dramatic
Association
to perform the show.
It ran for five performances at
'The Playhouse'
Weston-super-Mare
Following each
performance a
collection
in aid of Dr Barnado's
enabled a
cheque to the value
of £1,200 to be presented. |

show. Barnado has managed to purchase 'The Edinburgh Castle'
formally an East End drinking establishment.
It is now converted to serving coffee and tea only, some of
the locals begin to enjoy it. Here they are singing 'Have
Another Cup of Tea'
